The iHerb AIDS Committee of Simcoe County has been awarded a two-year Trillium Foundation Grant to do capacity building with organizations across Simcoe/Muskoka, to increase access to services to LGBTQ individuals in the region. This project will support organizations as they undergo an assessment of how accessible the organization is currently, identify barriers to providing service and develop plans to address training needs and any policy issues.
To do this work, ACSC has created a “Capacity Developer” staff position, which we are pleased to announce has been accepted by our Youth Programs Coordinator, Dale Boyle. Dale brings his wealth of experience in workshop development and facilitation to this position.
Dale’s former position has been re-named “Family and Youth Programs Coordinator”, and we welcome Katie Mobbs to this role. Since December Katie, a recent graduate of Social Work from Laurentian, has developed and been facilitating the Barrie Junior LGBT Youth Connection Group. Katie’s position will start at three days per week (Tues, Wed and Thurs) with the hope of expanding this area as funding allows. One area that Katie will be exploring is how ACSC can support both parents of LGBTQ youth and LGBTQ parents. Katie and Dale will transition to their new roles by mid-April. Dale Boyle can be reached at his new email address email@example.com
, Katie Mobbs can be reached by contacting her at firstname.lastname@example.org
Congratulations to both Dale and Katie in their new roles and we look forward to seeing what they bring to these positions and program areas.
